Vasily J. Assikis, M.D.
Dr. Vasily Assikis is nationally known for his expertise in the management of Genitourinary malignancies. He treats patients with all cancer types given his extensive experience in oncology and hematology. He joined Piedmont Cancer Institute, P.C. in 2006 following his faculty appointment with Emory University as a Distinguished Georgia Cancer Coalition Scholar and Assistant Professor of Hematology/Oncology and Urology at the Winship Cancer Institute. While at Emory, he also served as the Director of the Prostate Cancer Translational Research program.
Dr. Assikis has lectured extensively on prostate cancer. He is an accomplished author of over 50 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and manuscripts in the areas of prostate and breast cancer.
Dr. Assikis leads Piedmont Cancer Institute’s efforts in clinical research focusing on bringing the most cutting-edge therapies for various cancers. He sat on the Piedmont Hospital Institutional Review Board and chaired the Committee for Clinical Pathways for Genitourinary Malignancies for the Center of Clinical Excellence (CCE).
He enjoys reading, travel, and spending time with his children.
